Cook-in & Zine launch

SFS will be hosting a 'cook-in'! Come learn to make delicious soup, a snack, and maple apple crips! Most ingredients will be sourced locally. The purpose of the workshop is to teach people how to cook, and how they can cook with local ingredients!

You can register by e-mail stusustainability@gmail.com or come sign up at our table. We'll be in James Dunn Hall Thursday the 21st, Monday the 25th and Wednesday the 27th from 10-2.

Fee is by donation!

We need a minimum of 10 people to register and only have space for 20 people.

At the cook-in we'll also be launching our "Food, food, FOOD!" zine about how to eat locally, and healthily.

Also, our Lug-A-Mug is coming up!

REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS OF NB - Oct. 23
Nature NB invites you to explore the incredible world of Reptiles and Amphibians in New Brunswick. Learn everything you need to know to confidently identify our native herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians – see, you’re already learning). Learn about why they are so important, what threatens their existence and how to reduce your impact on these amazing creatures. SUN, OCT 24: AUTUMN LEAVES GUIDED WALK. Take a guided walk through Mactaquac Provincial Park with your guide Jim Goltz. As part of Nature NB's
Wildlife Workshop series, Jim will take you on a hike through one of his favorite trails in Mactaquac. Along the way you will learn how to identify trees based on their leaves and learn why leaves change color in the fall among other areas of interest along the way. When: October 24 @ 9:30am. Where: Mactaquac Provincial Park (parking lot next to water tower, across from golf course). Drive out Woodstock Rd. (Rt. 102), take Exit onto 105 towards Keswick Ridge, follow until parking lot across from golf course (parking lot will be on right). PUMPKIN CARVING AND SEED ROASTING PARTY - OCT 26
Join the Local Foodies on October 26th for a pumpkin carving and seed roasting party! Hot apple cider too! Fun for you and the kids or the kid in you. Cost is $5 or FREE if you bring your own pumpkin. We will roast the seeds, compost the waste and you get to bring your carved creation home.

Youth Showcase
Featuring youth from around the province who will present innovative sustainability projects at their schools.
Are you interested in talking to people who think the education system should reflect the things YOU want to learn about, like environmental and social issues? Or, have you been pondering the thought of becoming a teacher someday?
This conference will provide participants – i.e. you - with an opportunity to learn, discuss, and plan for “Education for the 21st Century,” whether they’re students, teachers, educators, or just interested in the topic. Keynote speakers, Deputy Minister of Education Roger Doucet and Director of E-Learning Debbie Good, will speak about the Department of Education’s new approaches to education, 21st Century Learning and community schools, and how these relate to education for sustainability. Members of the Youth Environmental Action Network will also be speaking about the things they REALLY want to be learning about. Plus, we get to go outside (not to mention a day off school)!
